Pineapples, which are available in stores throughout the year, are perennial plants belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, native to tropical America. Currently, more than 90% of the fruit distributed in Japan is imported from overseas. As for domestic production, almost all of it is produced in Okinawa Prefecture.
